Baseball and SoftballJohnson Park offers two baseball diamonds, one near the open picnic shelter and the other at the south end of the park. Restrooms are available near each ball diamond.
Bike TrailsA paved multi-use trail runs the length of park, adjacent to Butterworth Drive. At the north end of the park, this trail connects to the Fred Meijer Millennium Park Trail Network which includes nearly twenty additional miles of paved and natural-surfaced trails. Through Millennium Park, the trail also links to Kent Trails which crosses the Grand River on a refurbished trestle bridge and runs south to 84th St. in Byron Center. Trail users also can cross the Grand River at 28th St, creating a loop route of nearly 7 miles by heading north along Indian Mounds Dr to the Kent Trails bridge and returning through Millennium Park.
Boat LaunchTwo boat launches for the Grand River are available off Veterans' Memorial Drive, between Butterworth Dr and Riverbend Dr.
Disc GolfThe 18 hole disc golf course is found at the north end of Johnson Park, at the intersection of Butterworth Dr and Veterans' Memorial Dr. The course has dirt tees and wooden posts, and is lightly wooded and fairly hilly with nice views throughout.
Picnics and Group EventsJohnson Park has eight picnic areas, an historic open picnic shelter, and an enclosed shelterhouse that are available for picnics and other group events such as weddings, meetings, reunions and parties. All of these may be reserved for a fee. If picnic areas or the open shelter are not reserved, they are available first-come first-served for no fee.
FishingWith almost 1½ miles of frontage on the Grand River, Johnson Park is an ideal spot for a relaxing day of fishing.
PlaygroundThe park has two playground structures, one near the open shelter and the other near the "B" picnic areas.
Scenic TrailIn the wooded hills above the main park, visitors will discover a 1.6 mile meandering paved pathway. Formerly a road, the Scenic Trail is now a multi-use trail offering an easy way to explore and enjoy the forest.
SleddingThe popular sledding hill at Johnson Park is located near the C1 picnic area, off the park's main parking lot on Butterworth Dr.
