Steps to Volunteering
Step 1Choose your way! Whether you are an individual looking for a special project type or a representative of an organization who would like to plan a project for a group - we have a role for you! We offer single projects for individuals or groups, occasional work for friends of a park, season-long commitments for park and trail stewards, school group projects, and internships.
Step 2Explore our Projects, Programs and Events to find a project or type of work that appeals to you! There are lots of ways that volunteers help improve our parks and trails, both outdoors and working behind the scenes.
Step 3Contact volunteer services at by e-mail or phone at (616) 632-7842 for more information or to receive a list of upcoming project dates. Our Volunteer Coordinator can either assist you in registering for an upcoming scheduled project or will help you plan a project that is tailored to fit your interests and availability!
Step 4Have fun! Our volunteers have a real impact on the quality of our parks and trails and we have a great time doing it!

NOTE: For KCP Volunteer Services projects and events a signed Waiver is required for all volunteers. [Waivers will be available at the project site] A parent or guardian must accompany Minor volunteers unless the Minor volunteer is participating under the supervision of an organization that has submitted a signed Organization Waiver [to park.volunteers@kentcountymi.gov] prior to an event. Waivers are available for review at https://www.kentcountyparks.org/volunteer/document_center.php. Contact KCP Volunteer Services park.volunteers@kentcountymi.gov if you have any questions or if assistance is needed to translate any of the KCP Volunteer Waivers.
