Park or Trail Clean UpProject opportunities

We need help from late March through October for park and trail clean ups that may include trash pick-up, planting/landscaping, weeding, raking, brush trimming along trails, mulching around playgrounds, painting, staining, branch pick up from green spaces and trails, lake and stream cleans, or special projects.

Some Park and Trail Clean Up project dates are pre-scheduled during special event times however, a project time and site can be developed specifically for an individual volunteer or volunteer group!

Kaufman Golf Course Spring Volunteer Kick Off and Grill Out
Special Event • March
Scheduled in late March (depending on weather). Join a group of “greens cleaners” for this annual golf course event! Park staff will take groups of volunteers out to various sections of the golf course to do a spring raking. A grill out lunch will be provided after the project. This is a wonderful opportunity to get outside in early spring and is great for volunteers of all ages!

Kent County Parks Annual Spring Clean
Special Event • April and May
From the first week in April through the end of May, volunteers are invited to help with County Park “spring cleaning” projects, including raking, mulching, trash pick up, weeding, and more. Contact KCP Volunteer Services for a list of pre-scheduled dates and sites or to plan a Spring Clean project for you or your group!

This annual project includes flower planting and landscaping at the Millennium Park entrance and Beach House area. Great spring project opportunity for Master Gardeners or landscape enthusiasts who would like to help beautify Millennium Park!

From September through October, volunteers are invited to help with County Park “fall clean up” projects, including raking, trash pick-up, weeding, and other special projects. Contact KCP Volunteer Services for a list of pre-scheduled dates and sites or to plan a Fall Clean project for you or your group!

Annual Thornapple River Clean
Special Event • September
Kent County Parks helps support Ada Township Parks and Recreations’ Thornapple River Clean Event by assisting canoeists at Chief Hazy Cloud Park in Ada who are dropping off collected trash from the Thornapple River. Great opportunity for Scout groups or college students!
