2018 Schedule for Weekend Nature Programs

bee programOn select Saturdays throughout the camping season, we offer free educational programs at the campground. The programs are held in the open picnic shelter adjacent to the beach parking lot and are open to the public.

Here's our current schedule for 2018. The schedule may change so it's a good idea to check back here before your visit.
 
May 26

Farm Animals on the Go!
Learn some fun facts about farming and the animals who live and play on the farm! Many different animals will be visiting our campground. Come on out and meet the "farm animals on the go"!
 
June 9
11 am - noon
Wildlife Neighbors
Animals are our neighbors in the Community of Life and they have important jobs to do! Meet some of our wild neighbors, learn the work they do that benefits our community, and learn about the adaptations that help them do their part.

Nature Craft
Hands on fun for campers! Campers will have the opportunity to make their own game or nature craft while learning a little about the plants, animals and history of Wabasis Lake Park!

Once Upon a Raptor
Experience the living stories of our Michigan Raptors! Staff from the Kalamazoo Nature Center will take the audience into the minds and habits of these fascinating birds and explore how their stories are not so separate from our own!

The Life of Bees!
Thornapple Woodlands' live bee presentation offers an entertaining view of the fascinating life of honey bees, including their life cycle, how they find nectar and turn it into honey, how honey is harvested and the importance of honey bees to our food supply.
 
August 4

Nature Games and Crafts
Hands on fun for campers! Campers will have the opportunity to make their own game or nature craft while learning a little about the plants, animals and history of Wabasis Lake Park!

Beetles, Bugs and Butterflies
Discover the awesome adaptations that allow insects to live in amazing and diverse habitats here and around the world. Learn to tell insects from their arthropod relatives, and transform your thinking about the complex life cycles of these six-legged creatures!
